When I hit the update button “an error occurred” message pops up. My halo is new, and my computer is a new iMac. Didn’t have an issue with installation before. I tried with Halo connected and not connected. Help?
Sorry you’re running into this issue. Since your iMac is new and the software installation was completed successfully, the quickest solution may be to reinstall the latest version of the Aha Halo software and try the update again.
You can download the latest Mac version here:
https://github.com/qwe4135011/aha/releases/download/aha/aha_halo_Mac_2_2_1_3_521.dmg
After reinstalling, please reconnect your Aha Halo and try the update again.
What is the exact error message you see? The update button makes halo check for software updates manually, and the most frequent causes of errors here are no or a bad internet connection or firewall/protection software intercepting the server communication.
When you start the app, do you see quick pack button saying “Download” for a short time? Or are there any notifications instead?
Eventually I got the update, even though it was “stuck” in downloading and wouldn’t close. Had to shut down the computer. Then later, when I tried again, the message said I have the latest version. However, the two new programs (Cortisol et al) don’t appear. Any ideas? Thanks for your response!
This still sounds like a bad server connection. The frequency database update is a separate process that starts after software update check, so that possibly did not work (yet). These checks are done automatically once the app finds a stable internet connection. Look for notifications at the upper left corner after app start that should warn about a slow or non-existing connection, and check your firewall settings.
If you are up to version 2.2.1 now, you could as an alternative use the “Reset local database” menu command. It will replace the program database on your computer with the version deployed with the app which includes the latest two additions. You only lose your favourite labels, which probably isn’t a great loss.
Awesome! Thank you so much–the “Reset local database” did the trick!
