Button functions

When I press the right-side button (9 o’clock position) it doesn’t lock the screen. Actually, the button does nothing, neither on long or short press. Device has the newest firmware.

The right button is not the 9 position. The Left is.
Hold it for a few moments, the screens goes dark. Touch the right and you will see the screen with the lock. Touch it again and the lock is removed.

Sorry, my mistake, I meant the left-side button (9 o’clock position, not 3 o’clock). It does nothing. I hold it down for more than 30 seconds but nothing happens.

2 seconds is enough on the left button and the screen turns black (lock) when you touch the right button ones light is on, press ones again and the lock opens.
Lock goes automatic on while using. It safes accu. Still not working? Try to reset (little hole down right) with a paperclip. Hope it works.

Il est nécessaire que l’ecran soit déverrouillé pour que le bouton gauche fonctionne.
Pour enlever le cadenas, appuyez brièvement sur le bouton droit, puis appui prolonger sur le bouton gauche pour eteindre l’écran.

I tried Reset but nothing changed. The left button does nothing, is totally dead. If I let it set for awhile, the screen locks automatically and unlocks when pressing right side button. Lock manually does not work.

When the divice is automatically locked (black screen) if a program is running, you can activate it with the right side button.

However, the program you’re running is still locked. You have to press the right side button to unlock the program first.

Then, you can press the left side button for 2 seconds and the screen will go black again.

This is how I figured this out. Seems a bit counter-intuitive but it works!

That is exactly what I do, but the left press doesn’t lock the screen, it does nothing!

That is weird indeed.

It only turns the screen on black.
When you put on your program it will do the same after a little while. So don’t worry about it.

This is what I’m running into. It’s inconvenient but the halo does auto lock after 1 min. But still this irks the heck out me.

I have not try the factory reset.

Did you try checking for firmware updates when connected to the Halo program?

When I check for firmware updates it says that my Halo has the latest firmware. I tried reset but nothing changed.

Same with me, no newer firmware nor reset working.
The left button will wake up the display so maybe a newer firmware update might help.

When you are in doubt about the functions of the buttons, you can refer to the manual, pages 5 & 6.
But sadly, as we often see in modern electronic equipment, multiple-function buttons are ALWAYS confusing to the user. Standard buttons that are clearly marked with their function will always be more user-friendly. No more than 2 functions per button, and no long-press required, please.

Error message. Sorry.

How do you check the firmware update version ?

When you connect the halo to your computer; with the aha halo program, connect the halo device. Once the program connects to the device and the programs are read from the halo device…“File → Check for new firmware”.

The program will check and report if there is a newer version.

“File → About aha halo” will report the details about your halo device

No, the numbers you find here are the version numbers of the software which is named the same as the device.

You don’t have to do anything. Once the app runs, has access to the internet and halo is connected, it will check for firmware updates automatically and inform you if a new version is available.
