Firmware update

Impossible to get the “Firmware update” displayed on the unit when pressing the top and left buttons together, and then connecting the USB cable to the computer. Therefore, I cannot use the firmware update at all. What is the solution ? Has anybody tried ? Please, explain in details.

If you use the halo app to do the upgrade, and your halo is in working condition, there is no need to start halo with the mentioned buttons pressed. halo will automatically be set to firmware upgrade mode once you start the upgrade procedure.

You should be cautious anyway, as a failure can lead to halo being bricked temporarily. In such a case, it can be recovered with the Windows exclusive Flash tool available on the ahaharmony website. In most cases, a bricked halo will start in upgrade mode without the need for button presses, which will be displayed accordingly, so it can be simply connected to a Windows PC and the upgrade tool can be run.

Thank you. Do you know how to read our Halo firmware version and also where to find out the version of the latest firmware ? Thanks.

You can find halo’s installed firmware in the debug logs after halo was connected.

If a new firmware is available, a messagebox will appear that shows its version number and changes. Otherwise to be sure, you can also see the latest firmware number in the logs after the API was asked for a newer version:

Basically you shouldn’t have to worry about firmware as the software will keep your halo up to date.

I was given a link to manually update firmware. I had an issue with the function of the “left” button press (could not lock nor dim display on demand). This link gives instruction and files to download in order to update firmware:
