I just downloaded and installed (on a Mac) the new software update that contains the peptide category. However with my Halo on and connected, I ran the SW and it says “Halo not connected”. To clarify, I downloaded and installed a fresh copy.
This is VERY” frustrating!! I have tried disconnecting the Halo, reconnecting it, then booting up the SW with no luck. Why is the SW now not seeing the Halo?
Do you have halo connected via a USB hub or similar extension? Some of them sometimes block their ports without a visible reason; I am seeing this myself on a M1 Macbook with different devices. It usually helps to replug into a different port or directly into the USB port of a computer.
Some rare times I find it necessary to restart the Mac.
And of course a cable can get faulty, so if none of the above helps try a different one if available.
Cable and port were used two days ago without issue, but restarting the Mac helped. HOWEVER, now the peptide category has disappeared completely. Holding the Option key down and clicking on “Software Update” does not bring it back. Looks like I will have to do a complete new download and install and see if that solves the issue. These technical problems when it comes to updating are really getting annoying and need to be solved. I’ve never encountered such issues before with my decades-long experience working with tech.
It turns out I was looking for the peptide category on the upper left, but it has moved down to the very bottom and I never scrolled down-so it is there, just in a different place.
Dear, I just tried it. While holding down the Option key, click “Software Update” at the same time. You’ll need to wait a moment until a pop-up window appears saying the peptide program was successfully updated. The peptide program will then be displayed in the first column.
Of course, I will also report this to the software development department.
The USB connectivity issues were introduced with macOS 14. It is mostly Security mechanisms going a bit paranoid. I am sometimes seeing this with different devices, not only halo, but it is most prominent with USB C connections. If you should encounter these issues again, please check if this article helps.
If the peptides section is in a different spot than expected, please check the app’s preferences. When category alphabetic sorting is disabled, a custom sorting created by John White is being used.
If peptides still shouldn’t be in first place then, the database should be downloaded with an OPT-click again. But I guess you have done that often enough.
